Installation instructions: 

1. The steel needle of the sensor is completely inserted into the soil to be tested, and the sensor should not be shaken when inserting, so as not to affect the sensor probe;

2. The horizontal insertion of the sensor can be applied to multi-layer observation and establish a soil moisture monitoring station;

3. When you feel that there are hard objects in the soil, please re-select the measured point to prevent damage to the sensor probe.

4. Do not insert the probe into a hard soil block, so as not to damage the probe; when measuring, the density of the tested soil should be as even as possible;

5. When removing the sensor from the soil, do not directly pull the cable; after use, clean and dry the probe to keep the probe clean

6. If the measurement point is not selected properly, it may cause unpredictable measurement error (>10% vol). Rough installation will cause damage to the stainless steel needle of the sensor, which will affect the measurement accuracy. The following aspects must be paid attention to during installation: (1) Abnormal cavities or pores. If there are cavities or air holes in the sensing range of the sensor, it will cause measurement errors, especially when the sensor is plugged and unplugged, it is necessary to avoid repeated operations at the same position; (2) Installation angle. In different applications, the sensor can be installed in different ways, usually in two ways, horizontal installation and vertical installation. The distribution of water in the soil medium is affected by many factors such as space and time, and the reasonable installation method of the sensor must eliminate these effects to the greatest extent. When installed vertically, the sensor measures the average value of the moisture in the sensing interval of nearly 6 cm; (3) the sampling point. The selection of sampling points must be carefully considered. In addition to the two points mentioned above, there are many other factors that affect the measurement accuracy of the sensor, which can be listed: changes in soil density and composition, gravel, plant roots, earthworm loosening effects, soil drainage status, and soil surface moisture Volatile and so on.

7. Due to different water sources, water quality will change accordingly. The measured voltage output value of the sensor placed in a pure water sample will fluctuate within a range. This measured value can only be used as a reference value and cannot be used to judge the measurement accuracy of the sensor itself.
