The sensing part of the direct radiation meter is the core part of the smooth tube, which is composed of a fast response wire wound electroplated thermopile. The sensing part is coated with matt black paint on the side facing the sun, and the hot contact of the thermopile is below. When the sun shines on the hot contact, the temperature rises, and it forms a temperature difference with the cold contact on the other side, thus generating an electromotive force, which is proportional to the direct radiation intensity of the sun.
